FIESTAS DEL SOL
Fiestas del Sol is a fair that happens every year in my hometown of Mexicali. It's a place where vendors and artists from the region and the country come to sell their goods and crafts. It also offers musical entertainment with artists both local and of national renown, traditional food, and rides. For my take on the event, I wanted to create a design that represented Mexicali in its essence: the valley, the sunny summers, the bullring, and its Chinese community.
INSPIRATION
Mexicali is known for
its cotton production.
My grandpa used to own cotton fields!
Mexicali has an important Chinese community since its foundation.
Mexicali is known as
The Anteroom of Hell
due to its extreme
dessert temperatures
Plaza Calafia used to be a bullring, since bull fights are now banned,
and is now a landmark and main
place where important music events take place.

I wanted the colors to truly showcase the air of celebration with colors that embody the essence of Mexico.

Fiestas del Sol has yet to create a website and App to have easy access to purchase tickets and look at showtimes.
